This week I was invited along to a day of Parkour and kit testing with Canon. Keen to try out he new 5Dsr I headed down to the big smoke, not fully knowing what to expect I loaded up the kit bags and took my new Profoto B1 along for the ride too.
We were meeting up in the afternoon and shooting into the early evening for the nice light, so during the day I took the opportunity to meet up with friends and drink quite a bit of good coffee, something we cant do enough of in this industry!
Katie has just completed the UK version of the TV show Ninja Warrior, and is the only woman in the final, and I can see why she did so well. That girl can jump!
She was great to work with, not only completing all the tricks faultlessly but also communicating well with someone who doesn’t do the sport (me), this made it much easier for us to create some nice work in a very short amount of time, in a very busy place.
We didn’t get to use the 5Ds/sr on the day as Canon didn’t have them available, but the 1Dx and 5Diii did everything we needed, and teamed up with the B1’s we got a nice mix of lifestyle action, portrait and more commercial feeling shots.
Thanks to Canon for the day and Katie for working so hard.
Keep an eye out on ITV for more of Katie in Ninja Warrior, and here on the blog for more parkour shoots with the athletes.
