On a recent shoot with CAR magazine we managed to get three minutes to shoot a portrait of racing driver Bruno Senna who was with McLaren showing what the P1 GTR and new 675LT could do on track.
With a short time period to shoot in, and only 5 minutes to set up I used one Photek softlighter, on a Profoto B1, to balance the sunlight that gives the rimlight to Bruno’s shoulders. I dialed in the settings on both cameras and fired off a wide with the 5Diii followed by a full length portrait before moving over to the 1Dx and swapping the Profoto AirRemote to get a tighter portrait.
You could tell Bruno has been doing these shoots for years, with just a small conversation to discuss the shots we wanted Bruno knew just what to do in front of camera. We managed to have a chat with Bruno later in the day and he is one of the friendliest people I’ve had the pleasure to meet.
