At the start of this week I spent the day at Silvertone race circuit to shoot some images for Spinal track, A non-profit who have a VW Golf GTI that’s converted for spinal injured drivers.
The car itself is not quite how it came out the factory, with a Golf R engine in place of the original GTi block, coliovers, Toyo 888R tires and a full cage alongside a Revo map. It shifts! Oh and the throttle and brakes are controlled by a leaver alongside the steering wheel so when cornering the driver has one hand on the wheel.
The organization offer driving days, and passenger rides for anybody with a spinal injury, giving a taste of track driving and the freedom along side it. With expert tuition alongside the driver the participants on the day were embarrassing some very capable cars (sorry Monaro, you just cant corner well enough).
Im not going to say too much as there will be an article coming out soon with a lot more details, but if you’re in an industry that can support the growth of this team, please get in touch. They do great things.
More images in the article coming soon.
